В I can’t remember the last time I cut a bouquet. В And because I am now in the depths of summer and my children are home (off and on), I’ve felt the need to take some time away to do some of the things I used to have more time to do. В ~On occasion, I’ve been asked by my Etsy buyers if I have any promo or coupon codes. В And in the past, I didn’t think there was a way to add them to my store. В But now, after my last post, “Friends & Family Cards from Miss Bargain Huntress,” and adding coupons to my packages, I realize I can simply add a coupon code to my Etsy store so that buyers can easily use it if they receive a coupon in their package, or if they ask for it. В ; -), instead of having to contact me directly to use it. I picked up a few vintage Coach bags last weekend and I generally find that they don’t sell for all that much when all is said and done. В Most buyers want them in pristine condition which is hard for a bag that has been around for a few decades at least. В So it surprises me when I look up the most expensive Coach bags that have sold and see many in the multiple hundred dollar range. Most of these do look to be in very nice condition, but some look to be not that special. В It appears that we are looking for the word “Cashin” when we want to be spending a lot of money. Apparently these are the ones originally designed by a Bonnie Cashin who started there in 1. В I believe I have at least one of her bags in my inventory: If you familiarize yourself with the different versions of bags, especially the older vintage styles, you’ll be able to spot them easier while thrifting or garage sale- ing. В I usually snap them up for $1. В Keep your eye out for your next Coach to keep or sell! Tags: bonnie cashin, coach cashin, vintage coach. I have always loved pop up books, ever since I was a child. В So when I have found them at garage sales and thrift stores, because they are usually 2. Вў- $1, I snap them up. В Last weekend I came across a Seller who was kind enough to alert me to the multiple boxes of vintage children’s books she had, including one of vintage pop- up books. В I quickly made a pile and paid 5. Вў a piece. В I don’t have all of them listed quite yet, but I’m working on it: These books prompted me to do a bit of research into how valuable certain versions of these books have become. В Depending on the age, size, author, publisher and topic, you can find quite a variety in the higher ranges: Some of these are actually not that old and you may have them in your collection. В If your children and/or grandchildren are through with them, you may want to think about putting them up for auction or sale to make a tidy profit. В In fact, once again, I didn’t get most of the haul until the end of my route at an out- of- the- way sale I might not have even bothered with. В But let’s start at the beginning. В Which was at one end of town. В Two sales on one street where I found nothing. В Then on to a block sale. В An hour early from the specified “no early bird” start time, there were several sales that had already started. В And I started with two Littlest Pet Shops at a quarter each, then the Vintage Tomy Answer Clock for a dollar, and the black Patagonia shoes for a dollar also. В Down the street I found the Sweet Valentine Barbie for $3 (and some coloring/activity books for my niece at 1. Вў a piece). And that was it, I moved on. В Next couple of stops, again, nothing. В And then a sale where I could have walked out with my two vintage Coach purses and an awesome Gap tote all for $2. Irish pet shelter, I felt compelled to wait for one of the multiple vendors to have time to take my money. It was time to head out to the far reaches of town. В At the first I found the talking Little Bear and Popeye and Olive Oyl Salt & Pepper Shakers for $5. В Even further away, I picked up yet another vintage Coach purse for $5. В And coming around the bend, the Diesel messenger bag and Lincoln Logs for $5. Then the final sale where I picked up the three bins of vintage Fisher Price cars and people, the Thomas the Train cars, the “Cars” Movie cars, the vintage Samsonite Noah’s Ark (for Free), the vintage weeble wobble chicken, the vintage set of Christmas ball ornaments, a vintage knee- hugger elf, a vintage wind- up Santa on tricycle, more vintage Christmas ornaments, 1. В I just happened to be passing back by at about that time and decided, what the heck. В I had almost returned that morning, anyway, since it had been the best sale of the day and since I had rushed through it, eager to get to the rest of the sales where I ended up purchasing nothing, I pondered spending a bit more time. В What would be left at the end of the day? В Well, quite a few great things including two boxes of vintage ornaments, some Shiny Brite. В Also a Hallmark Jingle Pals Snowman and Dog in the doghouse that plays music and lights up. A Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer that the lady said no longer worked but, with some new batteries,В his nose is once again bright and he’s talking and singing. Each wave of the Walt Disney Treasures has had one entry of predominantly live action television programming. It has become a staple for this line of 2- disc limited edition tins since it was launched in 2. The premiere batch of Treasures included Davy Crockett: The Complete Televised Series, which marked Walt's first and unprecedented success in a medium that was still relatively young. In the fall of 1. Disneyland" series met with positive reception, Disney tried his hand at a daily television show. That show was The Mickey Mouse Club, the lone television entry of Wave 4's Treasures. The Mickey Mouse Club began quite ambitiously as a one- hour variety show for children, to air on ABC at 5: 0. Head Mouseketeer Jimmie Dodd was joined by more than a dozen charismatic kids (not child actors) who went by their real first names, which were printed on their Mouseketeer shirts. The first five episodes, having aired the week of October 3, 1. A pretty standard format emerges in the show's first week on the air. Each day has a different theme, from Monday's "Fun With Music Day" through Friday's "Talent Round- Up Day.". Every other day, the show would open up with the Mickey Mouse Newsreel, which was pretty much like the newsreels that once played in theaters, only focused on and targeted to children. The Newsreel covers 'local news' stories (such as profiles of individuals, events, or communities) on an international scale, and often looked at what was going on for the Disney Studio. Next, there would generally be entertainment from the set as the Mouseketeers would sing (Jimmie Dodd wrote a number of songs for the show), dance, or welcome a guest for some type of performance. Following this would be a serial adventure, with a single storyline carried through the entire week in roughly 1. The serial in these first shows is "What I Want To Be", a career- exploring journey for children that devotes its first week to being an airline pilot or hostess. Rounding out the episode (which without commercials, runs about 4. Treasure Mine", generally featuring Mickey Mouse or his peers Donald Duck, Goofy, or Pluto. After the "Mousekartoon", Jimmie Dodd would stand before his 1. Disney venture. Stars would emerge out of the Mouseketeers, and indeed, the original cast included a 1. Annette. The world would come to know her, sometimes with her last name Funicello, in Disney films and a variety of beach- themed musical comedies. This set keeps the brief sponsor messages intact, which mention familiar names like Coca- Cola, Betty Crocker, and Wheaties, as well as extinct products like TVTime Popcorn and Sugar Jets. Likewise, the commercial break transitions are retained, making reference to the ABC network the show aired on. On a side note, Walt Disney was not a big fan of commercials. He considered constant interruptions "bad showmanship" and word is that his dislike of commercials led to the show's end after three seasons of original episodes.). PACKAGINGThis December's batch of Treasures sees a few packaging changes made to the series. While still presented in double Alpha keepcases (now white, not black) and housed in nice- looking silver tins, there are no wraparound bands on the outside. These featured the signature of Walt's nephew, Roy Disney, who is no longer at the company which bears his name. Much of the well- known information that was on the bands ("2- Disc Set", "Limited Series") has been relegated to stickers on the outside plastic wrapping. As with Wave 3, inside the keepcase, you'll find a certificate of authenticity which lists the number of your individual copy out of the 1. Mickey Mouse Club Treasure sets produced. In addition, the usual collectible card is present; this set's card features the cover artwork from the sheet music folio for "Mickey Mouse March", the show's opening song. Lastly, there is the standard 8- page booklet with information on Walt, Leonard Maltin's introduction to this set, a listing of contents, and colorful cover art from the "Musical Highlights from the Mickey Mouse Club TV Show" record.
